Our History

Nisqually’s Legacy at MCEC

Medicine Creek Enterprise Corporation (MCEC) was established in 2008 to oversee and drive the economic development of the Nisqually Indian Tribe and its businesses. Led by a seven-member board of experienced business professionals, we focus on creating a sustainable, diversified economy that serves the Tribe's members and the surrounding communities, while positioning ourselves as one of the largest employers in Thurston County.

Expanding Economic Initiatives

MCEC’s economic initiatives have positioned us as a leader in regional business development. We continuously work to expand our business portfolio, ensuring long-term economic stability for the Nisqually Indian Tribe. Recent expansions include property management and multi-media advertising, allowing our organization to explore new business sectors. In every initiative, we actively seek opportunities to collaborate with other Tribal Enterprises, BIPOC-owned businesses, and local communities to ensure inclusive growth.

BUILDING BRIDGES with LOCAL and INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES

MCEC frequently collaborates with local organizations such as the Thurston Economic Development Council and the Port of Olympia to foster regional economic development. We also seek to support Indigenous Communities in our business practices. Whether it’s sourcing our coffee beans sustainably from an Indigenous Co-op or participating in national forums to exchange ideas for economic growth, we’re always exploring ways to partner with others to ensure collective prosperity.
